S.E. Dewantoro is a Javanese Visuavisual artist creating both small intimate works and large scale detailed installations and using a range of mediums from pen on paper, to carving multiplex wood. He is a founding member of the artists collective DarahRouge and has been involved in all aspects of design for DarahRouge performances, most recently the set design for Cookin and Murder. He has designed for several productions including Marat Sade 2005 and Marat Sade 2010 in Bandung in Indonesia. He has also done set and lighting design for everal performance artists in Bandung.
Between 1999 and 2002, prior to moving to Bandung he had been involved with various groups including being a founding member of Kelompok Senjahari who created performance events with people living with disabilities and several visual arts events in schools and communities including art and the environment workshops with Yayasan Mack in Batunungal Bali and hundred meter long canvas with childrenof Tebesaya, Ubud, He also was the chairperson and brains of Ubud’s first Contemporary Theater Festival MAI.
