Wanggi is well known in Bandung for his commitment to mime and social justice. He is the founder of Mixi Imajimime Indonesia (join him on FB: Mixi Imajimimetheatre Indonesia). His mime work has featured in all major newspapers and television stations especially in connection to the way he uses mime to raise awareness of issues such as anti-corruption, the government sanctioned murder of Munir and violence against women.
His mime work is unique blending together his own body of knowledge that draws on Indonesian tradition, the work of French Mime artist Marcel marceu and reminsiscent of Japanese Butoh artist, Hijikata Tatsumi. He is a member of Teater Cassanova one of Indonesia’s most innovative works and his involvement with them has been as a actor, performer and set and costume designer.
